Actually, I was only half kidding about Stan Heath at Michigan.
Am sure that Michigan will plan, form committees and hire the best coach 800K can buy in the Big Ten

Be careful what you wish for Iowa fans.

When the CBS announcers were talking about Pearl's ties to Tom Davis early in the second half of the OSU-Tennessee game all I could think about was the massive, massive gack job Iowa pulled in the 1987 West regional final against UNLV in Davis' first year at the school.

I believe that UNLV comeback was the largest deficit ever overcome in an Elite Eight or Sweet 16 game until Tennessee choked against OSU last week. Tom Davis disciple indeed.

That team may have been the most talented team Iowa has had in the last 25 years but all of those guys - Roy Marble, Kevin Gamble, B.J. Armstrong, Ed Horton, Al Lorenzen, Brad Lohaus - were recruited by George Raveling, not Davis.

Yeah, and if they were coached by George, they'd have lost in the second round.

Armchair, I hope Iowa fans have learned their lesson about being careful what they are wishing for. In fact, I came across this good read last night. It's pretty long, but if Iowa fans don't learn from past history, we'll fuck ourselves all over again.

Actually, it was written by a sports reporter from WHO radio, who runs the board.

Which most everyone understood because of his strong North Carolina ties as a student and assistant coach in his native state. Donovan doesn't have near the ties to Kentucky, right? Just an assistant coach under Pitino?

And he was referencing a story written by Larry Donald back in 1999.

AP is reporting the same thing about Pearl and Iowa.

Unless he gets in trouble himself or recruits several players who do, Pearl is going to build something special down there. He'll get whatever he wants there. People who think the men's program is second to the Lady Vols locally or state-wide are absolutely ignorant. He'll have the practice facility and arena upgrades next season, and he's recruiting well and developing talent even better (two words — Ryan Childress). When he adds enough post depth to put teams away, they'll be really good.

No news from Fayetteville means good news in College Station.
