Good lord, it was a phonetics joke. I've spent my whole 33 years in the South, I'm not really in the market to be South-bashing.

I didn't see anyone bashing the south here, Jay. I took it as a joke -- not a South joke.

Now, if he would have said:
"What does an Arkansan girl say after sex?"
"Git off me daddy -- yur crushin' my marlboros."

Then yes, that could have been conceived as a South joke.

Yeah, you can't spell Arkansas without mentioning David Glass running the Kansas City Royals into the ground.

Puh-lease -- just because he pockets $20M off the top every year instead of finding better players doesn't mean he's run them into the ground.

Providing shitty products and turning a huge profit is the Wal-Mart way. ;D

    There's a less-than-flattering article on Wal-Mart in this week's New Yorker.

Getting this away from Wal-Mart and back to coaching...

Just one final thought on Wal-Mart, Penn and Teller's Bullshit have an episode this week that focuses on Wal-Mart. It should be interesting, the teasers made it look like they defended the store.
Last week they did a show on obesity and how it is all blown out of proportion basically by the people who sell the diet books.

Back to coaching, who gets the Kentucky job?

When I was sitting in the press conference in St. Louis this weekend, listening to Billy Donovan not answer the question about the Kentucky job, I had this feeling that either a.) he really wants it or b.) he's a dumbshit for not putting an end to the conversation.

He never said, "No, I'm not interested." That just throws gas on the fire.

my take on Billy the Kid is this:
If he were to say he didn't want the job, it wouldn't be fair to him because, well, he is going to get more money out of it either way -- either from UK or from Foley. If he's had the time to think about that, he's short-changing his team this week, which is something he won't do (obvious by his success).
If he really does want the UK gig (which I don't believe he does) it would be career suicide to say so now with his team still in it.
Not saying anything was really his only option.
