He accepted. McKenna is a damn good hire for bargain-basement ISU.

No, it was total sarcasm, sorry I didn't put it in blue. And I know his wife is from Long Island.

I sure hope he isn't the choice. He's a questionable foul call away from a full coronary on the Carver-Hawkeye sidelines.
Saw him last night on TV - he's actually gotten bigger since leaving Utah.

Majerus: 'I'm not going to Iowa'
    By SEAN KEELER
    REGISTER STAFF WRITER

Atlanta, Ga. — Contrary to media reports, former Utah men's basketball coach Rick Majerus denied Saturday that he was a candidate to replace Steve Alford at the University of Iowa.

"No, I'm not going to Iowa and thank you very much," the 59-year-old Majerus said in a phone interview.

Several eastern Iowa outlets, citing unnamed sources, reported late Friday night that Majerus, a Wisconsin native who also coached at Ball State and Marquette, was meeting with Hawkeye athletic director Gary Barta in Atlanta.

Majerus denied those reports and declined to answer a reporter's question as to his present whereabouts.

"I just gave you all you need to know, son," Majerus said before hanging up. "I've got to take this call and thank you very much."

Yeah. The Detroit coaches have threatened to turn off the talent pipeline which kicks out two or three legitimate D-I players per year (that is, nationwide -- if you took an all-star team of Detroit players currently playing D-I ball, they couldn't go .500 in the ACC, SEC or Big Ten), and has supplied some of the talent which has carried Michigan to four straight seventh-place finishes in the Big Ten (that may not be precisely accurate, but it's close and I don't feel like bothering to actually look it up).

If I were Michigan, I'd tell the Detroit coaches to go fuck themselves. If Detroit produces any players who are Big Ten-caliber players (and also can get into school), and Michigan wants to offer them a scholie, they'll take it and be happy.

McKenna is going to keep Greg Lansing on as head assistant coach, which is good. Lansing got fucked over by Alford at Iowa after last season and ended up on Royce's staff. He's bringing in Jordan Printy from Linn-Mar, who, I swear, never fucking misses a shot from the 3-pt line, and he's going to big Clayton Vette to come out to Terre Haute as well. Lansing can recruit his ass off.

Armchair, you forgot the following organizations that has lined up to have Majerus be their spokesman:

    The Iowa Beef Producers Association
    The Iowa Pork Producers Association
    The Iowa Corn Producers Assocation
The Amana Colonies and the Ox Yoke Inn
The Ped Mall in Iowa City
    The bakery shops in Pella
    The Iowa Steak Association

  10. Vette has already committed to ISU, hasn't he?

That's too bad. It's been too long since the Big Ten had a sweater-wearing, overweight, vulgar, loud coach on the sdelines.
