Gail Goestenkors from Duke to Texas. Pretty big move in women's hoops. Look for Cal coach Joanne Boyle to be her successor, if they don't promote from within.

What exactly was the appeal of Texas? If you're a regular national contender where you are, why move? Texas, even as one of the old guard of women's basketball's upper crust, seems like a lateral move.

I guess this proves there can only be one coach with a really hard name to spell and pronounce at Duke.

Sad day for Duke. Another key piece of the foundation set by former athletic director Tom Butters is gone.

If you want to see the disasterous track record of current AD Joe Alleva, it doesn't take long. And I'm not talking about the lacrosse/Mike Nifong mess.

It was a combination of top-notch facilities, a quality built-in recruiting pipeline and probably the fact that Duke couldn't pony up the cash that the folks in Austin did.

Will Altman be another Dan Dakich? (Doubtful, it was only a day Altman was gone, not a week).

Arkansas' athletic department is the posterchild for consistency in an inconsistent collegiate athletics world.

I hate to get slappyed for starting a new thread, but does that turn of events deserve its own subject line? Page designers and editors taking a dinner break here might appreciate it.

We could just have a running University of Arkansas debacle thread

That would be a great subject line.
