Here's a name that doesn't belong here, but will join these ranks within the next week....

    Long Beach State's Larry Reynolds.

Yes, that would be the same Larry Reynolds who went 24-7 this year, won the Big West regular season AND tournament -- after going 18-12 and reaching the conference finals last year -- and will be playing Tennessee in the first round.

Word is, however, that the new AD and school president aren't big Larry Reynolds fans and that he's done after the 49ers are done. After LB polished off Cal Poly SLO in the conference finals, Reynolds thanked the FORMER president and AD for giving him the opportunity.

As a Titan, it pains me to prop Long Beach, but I know Reynolds from his days as an assistant at UC Riverside and he's one of the good, good guys in the biz.

If he's let go, there's a job I can think of he might be up for.

  4. Man, from Cali to the Haute? You must hate the guy, Bubs. :D

There will be another job in a better conference opening up on the West Coast after next season if he can manage to hold on one more year.

Probably not going to happen on that timetable, Micro.

Reynolds' contract ends this year and word -- coming to me from two pretty wired sources (one of whom covered the Big West for a long time) -- is that it's all but official that Reynolds is gone when the 49ers are gone from the NCAA.

Well if he stays in the game as an assistant or something he'll get another shot for a West Coast job next March, I think.

No way does Brady get canned... If Odom gets shitcanned, would they consider Anthony Grant? He did pretty well at VCU this season...

I think USC would consider him, but does Grant want to be another Stan Heath and have one good year and bolt to the SEC? If Grant waits around, he might be able to do a lot better than South Carolina.

Saw where Wyoming canned McLain and CSU got rid of Dale Layer today. Neither are surprising.

Odom just signed a two-year extension a few months back. He's getting in two big-name transfers, and a couple of strong in-state players. Dave is staying in Columbia for at least another year.

  11. The added years added $300,000 of buyout. So if Hyman wanted to pull the trigger, he'd have to justify throwing that money down the toilet. Barring something very unforeseen, that won't happen.

Talk about a shitty job. Might as well keep Odom as long as he wants to stay, because they're not going anywhere regardless. USC is so far behind UK, Florida and Tennessee it's not funny, and with Vandy and UGa only improving, they're likely going to inhabit the cellar of the SEC East for a good while.
