At my current stop, each column, two on the news side, one in sports, is titled. I've never had my columns under a title heading. It took me about three weeks to figure out something to call it that wasn't cheesy. Looking back through the archives, I found one writer a few years back called his, "Mouth full of sunflower seeds." Sounded like a hick title to me and wanted to avoid sounding anything like it.

If you work for the Pawtucket Times, you should call it:

    A Drop in the Bucket

In one of the little pubs I write for my editor penned the title of my racing section as:
    In the Fast Lane

I kind of think that's more fitting for the section highlighting peple moving on up on their career paths. Since it's about what happened at the race I'd much prefer something like 'The Checkered Flag' or something of that nature.

Mine was "Out of Left Field." A close second was: "I Am Touching Myself As I Write This."

I thought column titles went out with the advent of the 21st century.

HATE column titles. And my MEs always made me have one. Never mind that almost every Podunk Press has its "Outside the Lines," "Extra Innings," "Dumbfuck's Corner," "Extra Points," "Tard with a View," etc. Beg your editor to just run your mug and name. People will figure out that it's a column.

"Tard with a View" has a certain ring to it.
