I don't know, it sounds like a pretty damn good job to me.

  2. I hear it's getting some serious attention from DMN types looking for a lifeboat.

That would make a helluva lot of sense.

What exactly is going on with the DMN?? Don't give me hearsay or conjecture---I'd like to know what is going on and please be as specific as you can. I've known some folks there for a long time, and I thought they were pulling out of the rut after the layoffs about 18 months ago. Thanks.

Hi Matt! You really shouldn't talk about yourself that way. You've worked hard and done a good job at DMN.

  7. Put it this way, CC. Make sure you get a forwarding address from your friends in the first week of August. Because by the second week, you may need it. Specific enough?

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that lifeboats are going to be needed in Dallas soon for some DMN types. Of course I know they put the buyout stuff out there weeks ago. I just was part of the Houston Post crowd that was caught up in the closure there. Interesting stuff. Sad, too.

The Austin gig would be a wondeful one for someone who would fit whatever John Bridges is looking for in that role.

For what it is worth -- I'm not looking for the gig. The previous comment is a general one ... 'nuff said.

    Thanks for the updates.

It's still a surprise though that we've only seen one name linked (remotely, as it is) to this job.

I just hope the guy/gal has chops. Their last attempt at a second columnist was a dude from entertainment, and he made Stephen A. look like Red Smith.
