If someone's flipping a bird, I swear to you it isn't me.
Or the next columnist at the RTD, to stay on topic.

I've been told everyone's been notified, so congratulations to Paul Woody, who moves from the Redskins beat to become the columnist. And congratulations to Michael Phillips, a very hard-working and talented journalist (and one of my good friends, in full disclosure), who will take over the Redskins beat.

Two great people. Woody's to blame for me getting into the biz. He hired me at the student paper at VCU. Phillips is what some might call a you-know-what young stud in the making. Glad they moved him from PT to FT.
Both will do very well in these roles.

From PT to preps to Skins in very short order. That's a Michael Phelps-esque move for Michael Phillips.

Part-time to an NFL beat writer ... big move, congrats Michael. And congrats to the new columnist.

Part-time in name only. Kid walked in with some talent. Glad they finally got someone in there who could help develop it!

Congrats to Paul, an incredibly nice person and I wish him the best. Very disappointing I won't see him in Ashburn anymore.

I've never met him, but back when I worked at Bristol, Woody was always one of my favorites to read (along with the Virginia Tech beat guy, whose name escapes me now!) when I was scanning the MG wire. Congrats to him. He was always a very engaging writer, and I look forward to reading his columns in the future.

The new VT beat writer at the RTD is one of the best. Certainly better than that old fart who used to cover the Hokies. Man, that guy sucked!
