    I agree the wording is a little clunky, but the overall point is that the government CAN'T get into the business of protecting disparaging words. Which, again, is all this Redskins ruling does.

    The consequences of offering no protection may not lead to an ideal situation, but passivity is unquestionably better than actively protecting (hence endorsing) it.

    Blogger who was hired by the Redskins to defend their name on social media quits because all his liberal friends are getting on his case about it.

    Now this one is straight out of the "politics make strange bedfellows" milieu: The blogger got famous by exposing the use of "macaca" that derailed George Allen's Senate run in 2006. And now he was hired by the time that employs George's brother Bruce as GM.
