Concerts thread: Best/Worst/Next/Last one you attended?

I’m going solo to Springsteen in Atlanta in a couple of weeks. Might meet up for early dinner with a buddy from a previous paper who wound up the next section over. But in general if I wasn’t willing to do things alone I’d never go anywhere.

 

I've been to a few shows solo - the only thing missing is friends to share the experience with - but the performers don't play any differently.

 

Wife is ambivalent about popular music concerts, as is daughter's husband. So daughter and I go together. I confess I enjoy going to shows in the company of a sweet young thing ... does that seem bit creepy?

 

Been to one show on my own. Dr. John was coming to play the local theatre as part of a jazz festival and the wife didn't want to go so I snagged a single in the third row (single tickets in high demand sections are out there) and it was awesome.

 

When you put it like that … yeah kinda.

 

I drove five hours to the Quad Cities to see Wilco by myself.

 

You're going to the show with your daughter for a perfectly legit reason. If you get a kick out of random people thinking you have enough game to pull a sweet young thing, well, it's not your fault they think that.

 

More likely they think she's my nurse.

 

Or that you're a dirty old zillionaire with a sweet young thing on your arm.

 

If that was the Sky Blue Sky tour, I believe the first show was in the Quad-Cities. Great concert!

 

It was the Sky Blue Sky tour, and I also saw them in Little Rock and CoMo on that tour. I've seen them nine or 10 times all over the Midwest and once in New Orleans.

 

Wilco is playing at the Avondale Brewery in B'ham on 4/22. Small venue. If you want in you better jump fast.
