I was there as well. Great show that night. Only night of the small VFC tour that Bruce guested on Permanent Vacation as part of REM's set.
Tracy Chapman joined Bruce for My Hometown.

I flew down the day of the show, ran into a bunch of Springsteen fans from online I'm friends with at the hotel (self-upgraded our seats from various points around the arena to an empty section right next to the stage that was empty during Tracy Chapman's set), and then flew home the next morning.

Springsteen ruined concerts. Once he started charging $50 and up, other artists figured they could as well. Of course, they didn't play for three and half hours.
Bruce is still the best deal in music.

I was at all of these shows, man those were the days. Greatest bargain in music....then and now.

  4. The last two times I saw Springsteen, my general admission floor tickets were about $120 after the LiveNation service raping. Still the best bargain in music.

Haven't been to many, but I've always enjoyed a Cowboy Mouth show. Great live band that has never disappointed and almost always plays two-hour sets. They're coming around my way next month, so I guess that'll be my next one, too. Haven't seen them in a few years so I'm looking forward to it.

One of the best I went to, besides the Mouth, was Garth Brooks. Played a three-hour set that included an hour's worth of encore. As a bonus, the tickets were free.
I was walking back from covering a softball game my senior year of college and some guy asked if I knew where to park. I pointed out a lot to him, then passed by him again on his way to the ticket office. Turns out he knew someone in the band who had left him four tickets at will call. He was late to the show (it had already started), had three extra tickets and asked if I wanted one. I said sure and went in to watch a great concert for free.

I seem to remember it was when the Eagles started to charge $100 and up for their first reunion tour, probably around 1994. I remember because at the time I paid around $40 to see Pink Floyd and thought, with the whole Floyd spectacle and all, they were still only charging $40 (and that was a lot in the era of $20 shows), and I though it was ridiculous the Eagles were charging $100.

I don't know when Springsteen started to charge $50 though, so it could have been earlier than 1994.

Finally remembered my last (god my brain is fried): My son and I drove to Durham last year to see Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel.

Asleep at the Wheel? Or Willie? I just got a live AATW album but I'm not sure when it was released. Seen 'em a bunch, always a fun night.

Last one attended — Neil Young at the Fabulous Fox in Atlanta. Ducat was an arm, a leg and a couple of arteries but Neil kicked ass in a one-man show.
