Concerts thread: Best/Worst/Next/Last one you attended?

Leonid & Friends tonight at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano.
Just got home, but I will be up for a while, wired from the concert. My mind was blown.
To my fellow SJ Chicago fans, you gotta find a way to see Leonid & Friends. They play Chicago music better than Chicago (Youtube is your friend). Almost all of the early stuff, along with some other songs from non-Chicago horn bands (Lighthouse; Earth, Wind and Fire, even Steely Dan).

 

Never heard of them until last week, when this excellent rendition of EW&F came across my feed ...

 

Most of the personnel in this video were there last night, but no strings or congas. They did play that song, featuring that singer, who was excellent. They played 3 hours with a 15-minute break. They looked like they were really having fun and I appreciate that in live music.

 

My girlfriend's best friend backed out of seeing Andrew McMahon tonight so she brought me along to the show instead. I knew very little of him other than he was in Jack's Mannequin, so I went in with a pretty open mind, having only listened to his most recent album, which is fairly chill. Did not expect a proper rock show to break out. Dude's a showman and the set was very entertaining. Definitely some Flaming Lips vibes going, including with how he interacted with the crowd. Worth checking out if it hits your city. Between tonight and the Friday Menzingers show, I've had a pretty damn good music weekend.

 

I saw him do a short solo set at a benefit show a few years ago and he was really good.

The Jack’s Mannequin album Everything in Transit is pretty great.

 

Having seen Kiss a few years back on their alleged last stop in Toronto I had no interest in their stop here tonight on their "this time we really mean it we're done" tour but a co-worker passed on some suite tickets they can't use so I am taking my wife who has never seen them (and if nothing else, a Kiss show is a spectacle).

They cancelled their stop in Ottawa last night, literally at the last minute as people were lining up to get in, due to sickness in the band but as far as I know we're a go tonight.

 

Of the two original guys, I've heard Paul is in really rough shape healthwise. Must need one more payday.

True, they've done it before and Paul doesn't sing they just use tapes so yeah, fuck it, let's go!
