Tagging along with my wife who's got a business event in Frankfurt and saw Dylan is playing so got a ticket for Wednesday. Never seen him before and probably overpaid for the tix but now I'll be able to say I saw Dylan and the Stones in the same year so I'm excited.

Great concert month in October for me. Billy Bragg on his 40th anniversary tour the 6th, T-Bone Burnett last night. Both were excellent.

Got one cued up next Wednesday with guitarist Yasmin Williams. She reminds me of Leo Kottke.

It just hit me that Billy Bragg is doing a 40th anniversary tour and I saw him year one. He opened for Echo and the Bunnymen in 1984.

(And I’ve seen T-Bone Burnett play the LA Coliseum, of all places. He was opening for The Who and The Clash. Also saw him in a theater opening for Elvis Costello, which was a better fit.)

Our William Clark Green concert for next week was cancelled last week. Little pissed about that.

I saw Bragg 30 years ago with Robyn Hitchcock. His 2024 performance was tied together better, with social and political messages that segued between songs. At the previous show he made the mistake of engaging in dialog with a drunk in the audience who wouldn't shut up.

Burnett performed several songs he co-wrote with Costello. I haven't followed Costello that much, although I liked his work pre-1985. I should check his set list with their new Coward Brothers album.

Burnett also released his own album recently, which he performed in full Thursday night.

Got to catch the second night of Sturgill Simpson's two-night stand in Cary last night. Absolutely phenomenal show. He and the boys blew the doors off for three hours straight.

The Monday night show was originally supposed to be in Asheville but with the hurricane damage he moved it to Cary, sold new tickets and turned it into a benefit show for Western North Carolina.

The Taylor Swift circus is in Indianapolis this weekend, the last U.S. stop of the Eras Tour. She's doing three nights, my daughters are going to the first night as I miraculously got tickets at retail. When I got the tickets, my next call was to St. Elmo's for a reservation for my wife and I. So we're all gonna be winners.

We saw BEAT, the King Crimson revival band, Sunday night. Steve Vai isn't Robert Fripp, but Adrian Belew made clear that he's well versed in Frippertronics. Tony Levin was stunning. and Danny Carey was impressive, more than just a drummer.

Belew has had an incredible, often underappreciated career. I understand that he was the driving force behind this tour. If this is his last major endeavor (he's 74), he has made a statement.

I find Simpson to be like Winehouse. You can see the genius, but they're lack of annunciation is nearly unlistenable to me.

Going to see the Drive-By Truckers tomorrow night in Atlanta. Last time I saw them in the U.S. … was November 2016. They were mad that night and played their asses off. They’re going to be next-level mad tomorrow night and I am going to be so there for it.

Saw the Truckers in June in Richmond and they were terrific.

Welp, bought my tix for another Hold Steady London Weekender this morning. Maybe I'll just stay there this time...
