Went to Dave Mason last night and I gotta say, he's still got it. He can really play that guitar, even sounded good on All Along the Watchtower. He was funny when he announced he was going to play Feelin' All right, he said people always ask him why he's playing that Joe Cocker song and he's like, hey, I wrote that! Highlight for me was "We Just Disagree," but really the whole concert was good and the band he's playing with is tight. Beautiful night sittin' down by the Detroit River and hearing some great jams.

I love outdoor shows. Last time Mason came my way was I think about two years ago, and I wasn't able to make it. I might try to get to one of the Wisconsin shows he has coming up.

His Live at XM Radio album is very good. Like you said, he can play. Thanks for the review 8)

Last: Paul McCartney, Kansas City, Saturday. Great show, instantly in my top 10 all-time. He made Ob-la-Di Ob-la-Da sound like a rousing rocker, made Live and Let Die seem fresh, and turned Hey Jude's interminably long fadeout into an arena-rock moment. A lot of fun.

Next: Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer, this fall.

The Hold Steady last night at the National in Richmond.

Stood right against the stage, right in front of Craig Finn. In-cred-i-ble. What an experience. These guys put on one hell of a show ... and Finn is a mad showman.

And now I know how a resurrection really feels...

  5. First: Yes, 1976 at the Seattle Coliseum. Seven buddies with vodka and Sprite.

Best: Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau at the Paramount in Seattle, 2006, I think it was.

Worst and last: Il Divo, last year, because I was a newlywed. I showed remarkable restraint.

    Next: Anything but Il Divo.

Best: any number of Jimmy Buffett outside shows I've been to.

Most recent: saw Colt Ford last month, and it was a good show.

For the record, the Tommy Emmanuel show was fantastic.
    The guy is completely sick.

He's coming to my area soon.

Not very familar with him. Can you give me a little background?

He's an acoustic guitar player from Australia. He's been voted the best acoustic guitar player by Guitar Player Magazine for about 10 years in a row.
Here's a video of his Beatles medley. Please keep in mind this is one guy playing one guitar live.

I highly recommend anyone who has the chance should see him.

    Very cool.

Reminded me of Monte Montgomery, who I like.

Going to try and get to the show if I can.

    Thank you.

My pleasure to spread the word.
His Beatles medley is pretty well know, that why I posted that, but it's not even close to the sickest stuff he does.
He's similar in some ways to Michael Hedges, because of the percussive aspects. He's faster and cleaner than Hedges.
Not to put down Hedges, who was fantastic.
