Saw Smokin' Joe at a blues festival back around 1996-97. Fucker can play.

  2. Gonna see Pavement and LCD Soundsystem at the Free Fest in Columbia, MD, on Saturday. Talk about two bad ass bands.

Going to see Belle and Sebastian from the fifth row in October. Then maybe Wolf Parade again. B&S is one of the finest bands walking the earth. Their 06 show at Merriweather was more than incredible.

Wish I could have caught Caribou tonight.

Just got back from Gaslight at House of Blues here in Cleveland. Tight band, they rocked the house. The testosterone pit was in its full glory tonight. Smelled like a locker room. Went up in it at the very end to get some pics. Guy jumped into me and I was immediately soaked.

They will destroy at Radio City.

Seeing Avett Brothers on Sunday in OKC. Second time to see them this year. To say I'm pumped would be an understatement.

This will be an interesting concert. Hofstra is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a show featuring a reunion of Sha Na Na, and Public Enemy, Blue Oyster Cult, Fountains of Wayne, Lisa Lisa, and hip-hop star Trey Songz.

Best -- Springsteen (too hard to pick which one)
    Worst -- Air Supply
Next -- Josh Ritter (solo acoustic)
Last -- Tift Merritt (solo acoustic) opening for Josh Ritter (band)

Come on. You did NOT go to see Air Supply. There had to be a girl involved in that.

It was the early 80s, it was two years before I discovered the greatness of Bruce in June 1984. So yes, I did go see Air Supply and there was no girl involved.
It was the second concert I ever went to (Survivor opening for REO Speedwagon was the first)

I've seen tons of great bands and I could never pick one show without sitting down and really going through some mental inventory.
Although being onstage with Rusted Root for a photo assignment was a pretty good experience. I'm not sure there's a cheering in the pressbox rule for entertainment photography, but I'm pretty sure it's waved when 10,000 pot-smoking hippies are involved.

Worst -- Ramones, Binghamton '95. It must have been a bad night though. When I saw them a year later they were great.
Latest -- I saw Maroon 5 and Aerosmith this summer. Aerosmith was amazing (no pun intended). For as old as they are, it could have been 20 or 30 years ago and I couldn't tell the difference. I knew every song an they sounded great. I would completely recommend them.

The Maroon 5 tickets were free, but if they come around again I'll pay. They're new enough so I knew every song and Adam Levine puts a ton of energy into his performance. Definitely worth it if you want to see a fun show and don't want to shell out a lot of cash.

BEST: Kenny Chesney at Gillette Stadium - show included Miranda Lambert, Montgomery Gentry, Sugar Land, Big and Rich and KC!

WORST: Honestly haven't had a bad show. I was outside for Brooks and Dunn when it was raining like MFer, or maybe the Pink concert at UNH when not-attractive lesbians were taking off their shirts and throwing bras at her. Those might be closest to worst because of atmosphere, not act. I could say act was Justin Beiber, who opened for Taylor Swift, but since I used his "performance" for a bathroom and food break I never sat through the screams of middle school girls in my section.

LAST: I can't remember if it was the Jamey Johnson show at Meadowbrook Farms or Taylor Swift at Gillette they were within a week of each other. Oh wait, Johnson started vacation and TS ended it.

NEXT UP: Darius Rucker at The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom to celebrate my birthday in November. My 9-year-old niece's favorite country singer. I think she'll be getting the Hootie and the Blowfish collection soon.
