Just got back from seeing the Murder Junkies (GG Allin's old band, featuring Brother Merle and Dino Sex, the Nude Drummer). Best rock show I've seen in years.

Yes. Don't go to too many concerts. George Michael was big back in the late 80's. Almost everybody loved those catchy tunes, Careless Whisper, Everything She Wants, Freedom, I Want Your Sex, I'm Your Man, Kissing A Fool, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, etc. whether they wanted to admit it or not. The man was a genius performer, until he went a lil cuckoo. Helluva show.

  3. Saw Yes recently, which tours with three of its originals and the son of a fourth. Great show.

Probably Howe, Squire and White. The son is Rick Wakeman's: Oliver.

Jon Anderson was booted a few years back when he had health issues. Not a great moment for the others, if memory serves.

Saw Molly Hatchet last night and have to say it was probably the most entertaining concert I've ever been to ... entertaining, not necessarily the best.
It was like a Hot Tub Time Machine right back to the 70s.

The show was at an old VFW turned biker hangout. Tickets were $20. Beer was $3. The stage was very small. The only thing there was the group, a few colored lights, their gear and a banner that said Molly Hatchet. A guy was set up selling BBQ in the parking lot. About the only thing missing was didn't see any boobs and nobody got cut!

There were about 250 people there, and as people rotated in and out for beer/toilet, you could make your way right up to the stage.

It was an ass-kicking Southern Rock show. They played pretty much everything on the Greatest Hits album plus a few off their new one and a 14-minute version of Free Bird dedicated to Billy Powell.

I can't wait to see The Outlaws in a few weeks.

Best would probably be one of the many REM or Pearl Jam shows I've seen. Not sure I could pick a favorite.

Nothing stands out as the worst, though Pearl Jam at Jazz Fest last year wasn't great. It was the first show of the tour and it seemed like it.

I saw Arcade Fire at Jazz Fest two weeks ago and that was quite outstanding.

Next will be Jill Andrews here in Chattanooga on June 2, followed by JJ Grey and Mofro a few weeks after that. And I might try to catch Steve Martin and his bluegrass band here Thursday.

Making my first trip to the 9:30 Club in DC on Tuesday to see Halestorm and Bullet for my Valentine. Kinda pumped about it. Heard that venue is pretty awesome.

Waiting to see the lineup for HFStival this year. May go to that.

    1991. St. Louis.

The Guns n Roses riot when Axl got angry with a photographer and jumped the stage, touching off a riot. He landed about 8 rows from me.

I was 16 and, looking back, the only guy without a mullet. I'v'e seen the DVD of the concert/riot and have yet to spot myself.

Every other concert I've attended hasn't lived up to the billing of that one.

I envy you, John. At Jazz Fest, you got to see some of the greatest bad white-girl dancing ever in the encore.

Last: The Big Four Festival, Indio, California. Great show featuring four thrash metal bands that have endured and thrived through hair metal, alternative rock, and their own foibles.

    Next: U2, large stadium.
