I went into my first Bob Dylan concert with tempered expectations. I've heard that over the past decade he has good nights and bad nights.

I scored fourth-row seats and I was blown away. His voice was (relatively) good, he moved around much more than I've seen on videos of his latest tours and Duke Robillard on guitar just lends that blues sound Dylan has crafted the last few albums more credibility.

Beyond Here Lies Nothing last night is now one of my favorite live performances I've experienced. And it's a song I was ambivalent about on Together Through Life. Live it is a showstopper, with Robillard's guitar just building and building and Dylan killing it on the harp.

Scarlet Town off Tempest is great, too.

Now that he's going to tour with Wilco and My Morning Jacket, I'm going to see him again this tour. At 70-some years old, I couldn't ask for any more out of Dylan.

Next Up: The National in June.

Didn't make it to the JJ Grey show. Hoping he comes through this summer.

Bought the new album. Like it.

Next show, Joe Bonamassa later this week

Poison 3 times, Kelly Clarkson 3 times, Reba twice, Bon Jovi, Warrant, Skid Row, Cinderella, Nelson, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill, George Strait, Alabama, Phil Collins, Vince Neil, Travis Tritt, Clint Black

Not sure what I'll see next. I don't live in an area that gets a lot of big names. I'd love to see Coldplay, but I'd probably have to travel 500 miles. The biggest acts coming this summer are Fun., Kenny Chesney, Willie Nelson, and Jason Aldean. I might see Aldean.

Not sure if all of these count as "concerts" but...

Took the wife to see David Sedaris last Monday. Went to the Black Crowes with a buddy on Tuesday. Then wen to see Jim Gaffigan on Saturday night.

Tickets for Paul McCartney at FedEx Forum in Memphis on May 26 came in the mail today. Girlfriend cashed in her Hilton/Hampton points to get us a room at the DoubleTree on Union Avenue, easy walking distance from the arena, Rendezvous and AutoZone Park.

Redbirds are at home against Round Rock that weekend, so I'm hoping Jurickson Profar and Oscar Taveras are still in Triple-A at that point. Shaping up to be a great Memorial Day.

I haven't lived in the same place my whole life. And some of those concerts were seen in the 80s or 90s, not recently.

No shit? Nelson and Cinderella weren't recent?*

    * All snark aside, the Nelson brothers were guests on my newscast last year when they were in town doing a tribute to their dad, and they couldn't have been nicer. Also, I actually saw Cinderella open for David Lee Roth back in the day.

Wildest: 1991. St. Louis. Guns N Roses. The night Axl touched off a riot.

The video is on YouTube where he stomps off the stage and a few minutes later, the place turned into Road House.

I think I was the only person without a mullet or a mustache.

One of the biggest regrets I have when it comes to entertainment is not seeing GNR during that tour.
