Goo Goo Dolls in Boise on Saturday. Free concert downtown for the grand opening of some bank's new skyscraper. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

Arcade Fire is now at another level live. They sound so much more tight and with a 12-piece powerful enough for an arena. Saw them in Cleveland and they did a great cover of Devo's "Uncontrollable Urge" with Win wearing the LCD cube with LeBron James' on it. They were always fun live, but they're legitimately great now.

I saw them at MSG a few years ago and enjoyed it, but I've never been a big fan of arena shows. I'm seeing them tonight because Groupon had upper level seats for $22. I'm a bit tired coming off the weekend, and wasn't too excited, but thanks to your review I'm looking forward to it much more than I was a couple minutes ago.

The only thing that sucks is going to see them tonight means I likely won't be up for going to see the opening show of The War on Drugs tour tomorrow.

With Coachella coming up tonight (I'm seeing them at a shed in August), I'm wondering how they'll pull off the second stage thing outside an arena. Did see a YT clip of a Lollapalooza Brazil show (where it looked like they had a long runway), and Win and Regine pulled off the audacious feat of singing at each other across the audience.

AF skipped Dallas this year, probably because of Coachella. (They played Houston on Wednesday in their homecoming show, and Austin on Thursday.) I considered going to Austin but I had to get up early the next day, so I'll have to wait until 2017. Bummer.

As if AF wasn't epic enough tonight at Coachella...Debbie Fucking Harry. At 70, her voice has seen better day, but as a presence, she is still a goddess. She came out for "Heart of Glass," then stuck around and worked it on "Sprawl 2," even twirling the ribbons along with Regine at the end.
I'm counting the days till Xfinity Center in August, man.

Reflektor ends up being one of those albums best heard live. It's a solid LP, but live it takes off. Some instances where the groove doesn't hit you quick enough on the album where with the full sound of live bass and drums it connects instantly. The pitfalls of trying to record a style of music that is best heard live, I suppose. They got it right with Orpheus on the album ,but We Exist and Here Comes the Nighttime are so much more powerful live. I straight up hate Flashbulb Eyes on the album but found it really good live.

I took Flashbulb Eyes off when I burned the double album onto one CD.

That's one of the reasons I find reviewers complaints of albums being too long or having weak tracks so backwards now. We can shorten or remix an album into any form we want in five seconds with the movement of our fingers or a mouse, so I'd rather have all the material that got recorded and make those decisons myself as a listener.

There used to be great value in producers who could cut the fat. Now I want everything available.
