Shovels & Rope, Jason Isbell and Kurt Vile at a four-day festival in late May. It's like a dream line-up for me.

That sounds great. Kurt Vile will be at the Boston Calling festival later this month and I'm strongly debating getting tickets mainly to see him. Modest Mouse is also headlining, so that's an added draw. I've seen them, but have not seen Vile.

I'm going to see Haim tonight at the House of Blues in Boston with my wife. She's definitely a bigger fan than I am, although I really did like Days are Gone. Should still be a fun show.

I'm more excited for June when a coworker and I are seeing the Antlers.

Saw Clapton, Tab Benoit and the North Mississippi All-Stars on the same stage at the N.O. Jazzfest a couple of weeks ago. All in all, a pretty good day, although it was hot as hell.

Clapton was solid, if unspectacular. Man can still play. Tab Benoit was OK, pretty standard Bluesiana stuff, but the All-Stars were sensational. Very energetic, eclectic show. Blues with an edge. I'd like to see them when they can really stretch out and jam.

YGBFKM brought them to my attention a while back. Been hoping they make it up my way some day, would love to see them.

Just updating to say that the Haim show was incredible; lots of jamming, guitar solos, crazy drum antics. I liked their debut album, but found it almost too perfect. Their live show was much more "raw" for lack of a better word. I left very impressed. They also know how to amp up a crowd. I left with a similar impression of opener Tennis. It's another band I haven't loved on record, as everything seems a bit muted, but they were absolutely great live.

I really wanted to see that show when it came through, but the tickets were sold out by the time I saw it was happening. Sounds like I missed a good one.

I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. It's fun to hear them live because the 80's influences are really apparent (hell, they covered Fleetwood Mac).

Prince (Purple Rain Tour) and Jacksons (1981) were pretty hard to beat.

I saw Leather and Lace, a tribute band to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac on May 3.

I've got tickets to go see Fleetwood Mac WITH Christine McVie in October.

My commitment that conflicted with Bonnaroo weekend was postponed a week. Now I'm scrambling to see if I can put a return trip together.

Saw some of my favorites at a four-day festival.

    — Jason Isbell was fantastic as always. His rendition of Cover Me Up made my hair stand up on end. He got a good minute-long ovation after it. His vocals are so much better since sobering up/getting clean. Sounds like a completely different guy than the one who sang Never Gonna Change and the like with the Drive By Truckers.

    — I've never been a huge Frank Turner fan on album, but the man can put on a show live. Great energy.

    — Got to see Kurt Vile and Valerie June live for the first time. Really fun.

    — Shovels and Rope closed on Sunday, played about four new songs on their upcoming August album. Really solid stuff. Should be another album to watch for, although matching O' Be Joyful would be pretty tough to do.

Jealous on Frank Turner. I like his albums, and have been trying to see him live for a couple years, and keep missing him. Actually, jealous on all of those except for Shovels and Rope - the only one I've seen.
