Saw a triple bill of Little River Band, Eddie Money and Rick Springfield last night.

It's easy to forget how many hits LRB had, and they still sound good, although none of them are original band members.

Money sucked. Voice pretty gravely and hard to understand, but his daughter, who joined him on stage, is hot.

Springfield was surprisingly outstanding. Great performance and he's much better of a musician than I expected. When he took off his shirt for "Jessie's Girl," and my wife swooned, I had to remind her that the almost 65-year-old is almost the same age as her dad.

Wow, Little River Band, there is a name from the past. Saw them a couple of times at their peak, solid band. Just checked their Wiki page, amazing how many guys have gone through that band over the years. Kind of like Savoy Brown or Spinal Tap!

I went to a lot more concerts when I was poor. From 1993 to about 1997, I went to a huge number of shows, all in small venues. At the Blue Note in Columbia, I saw Uncle Tupelo, Wilco twice, Concrete Blonde, Hole, Morphine, Counting Crows opening for Cracker, the Bottlerockets, Johnny Cash and a bunch others I can't remember. After about 1998, I've seen Wilco another six times, in New Orleans, Champaign, Quad Cities, Little Rock and Columbia, the last three in one year, the last two on consecutive nights.

Being a dad and married has all but ended my concert-going days. Of course, I'm 20 years older than when I was going all the time — and music just isn't as big a part of my life today as it once was.

Next: Dave Matthews Band caravan show, Sunday at the Gorge in central Washington.

This is a surprise ... my wife won tickets on a local radio station. We've seen DMB in the 1990s, the 2000s and now the 2010s. She's the bigger fan, but he always puts on a great show, plus Brandi Carlisle is opening on the main stage.

    Looking forward to it!

The show was great, with Dave and crew playing their usual brew of extended jams for about three hours.

What I'd like to address: WOW, with pot being legal in Washington state, it really was everywhere.

Yeah, I get that it was the Dave Matthews Band, and many of his fans love weed.

But I've seen him two times before, and there wasn't nearly this much sh** being smoked. Joints, spliffs, blunts all lit up and passed around, during the opening acts (before the sun went down) and all the way through the encore.

At one time I may have partook in the bounty, but my wife can't stand cigarette smoke, let alone all the nasty varieties of marijuana residue, and I'm pretty sure we both had contact highs. At least it was really windy, so the smoke didn't linger long.

Even better ... I made the 170-mile drive home without driving off I-90! :)

Last: Pearl Jam, BOK Center, Tulsa.

29 songs and damn near three hours long. They friggin' tore the place up. Some live rarities and popular covers mixed in with the old standbys. Amazing show.

  10. Nickel Creek about a month or so ago.

Not usually the music I jump around for, but with solid harmonies and good instrumentals, I was sold. Great show, even if the seats were a little snug for my less-than-slender frame.

Tedeschi Trucks Band did "Loan Me A Dime" recently in NYC with Derek Trucks ripping the solo. Mike Mattison is a terrific singer too.

When we in LA in July we went to the Hollywood Bowl and Boz and his band were rehearsing for a show that night. Watched a few songs, was tempted to yell out a request for that one. Or "Lido Shuffle".

Was there, for my first time seeing them live. Incredible performance and worth every penny.

Don't know if there will be another before this, but The Who will be on my schedule in St. Louis in May. Wasn't a huge fan until I saw them on their last tour in Tulsa. Excellent, even for a bunch of old men.
