Saw We Were Promised Jetpacks at a tiny club in Charlottesville last weekend. Good energy. Fun time.

I have been in the front row twice in my concert-going life. First time was in 1984 at a dismal Stray Cats show (I worked at the venue and got a friend in the box office to help me) and in 2013 at a Tedeschi Trucks Band show which was phenomenal.

New Orleans Jazzfest lineup this year is insanely good. Headliners include Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bonnie Raitt, among many others. Dates are April 22, 23 & 24 and April 28, 29, 20, May 1. Early bird tickets (through Feb. 2) are $60, plus tax. For the first time, the wife and I are going to make a weekend of it and see Pearl Jam (first Saturday) and RHCP (first Sunday).

A few months ago, we saw Jimmy Buffett at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, which is the venue Buffett plays before kicking off any concert tour. It was an outdoor, standing room only show, and we got there a couple of hours before showtime and were about 6 feet from the stage. Great show. And Buffett donated however much money he was going to make that night to flood relief efforts in Austin, which had had torrential downpours the few days leading up to the show.

Brian Wilson is coming here -- to a pretty small theater -- and performing "Pet Sounds" in its entirety. I'm sorely tempted. I love "Pet Sounds," but seeing Brian Wilson performing stuff like that these days is a weird combination of beautiful and heartbreaking.

The Huggy clan is hoping to score tickets to Pearl Jam's Toronto show when they go on sale on Friday. Huge fan, never seen them. And one of these days I am going to go to Jazzfest.

Hope they add a date by us. My 18 year old is a fan. I've seen them once... and it was before we had kids. Been a while.

Ha! I will. Butch Walker is probably my favorite musician working these days and he produced Brian Fallon's upcoming solo album. I have high hopes.

Took a last minute trip to see Bruce in Altanta last Thursday. Tickets were abundant and flights were cheap. Worked the morning in NYC, flew down, pre-show drinks with old friends, got a good spot on the floor, Waffle House post-show and was in back in my office by 8:45 in NYC on Friday.
