That's weird - figured there would be some sort of function that would allow you to put in your zip code and radius you were willing to travel. On another point - it is completely ridiculous how far in advance most shows sell tickets. There should be a limit of two months. I realize the tours finance themselves (and scale their shows based) on up front ticket sales, when you need to go beyond a six month lead time, it's nuts. Figure they could take the future gate of say $5 mil ($50x 10,000 seats) invest it and make some decent coin on the interest.

I’ll be the big dude in a blue flannel with a red beard drinking a $10 northern lights. I realize that describes half the people at that show.

Spoon last Friday at the Murat in Indianapolis.

Second time I've seen them, both at that venue I don't really like, and both shows were fantastic. Really high energy and tight performance.

Spoon is a band that I think has really suffered from the decline of rock radio. In another era they would be huge.

I've never been disappointed in a Spoon performance. I've seen them four times. And I agree the Murat is pretty bad and yet every band I want to see picks that place when they visit my region. (Still not as bad as when an approaching tornado moved Arcade Fire during the Suburbs tour from White River to the Pepsi Coliseum at the fairgrounds though. The metallic sounding feedback from that little icebox is still giving me a headache.)

Jason Isbell last night. Great show. He’s a super songwriter and musician.

Going to see The Killers in NYC on January 12. Really hoping against hope they don’t play a lot of their new album, bc what I’ve heard of it sucks. Like not a single good song. And that “I’m a man” tune is cringeworthy.

It's being ironic, isn't it? I hope to God it's trying to be ironic, because if it isn't I agree with you.

I’m not sure. The worst Killers songs tend to suffer from Brandon Flowers’ overearnestness, which can be grating. I think he lacks a certain gene for self awareness, and I think the “man” song is a reflection of that.

I HATE White River, though that's also been a venue that, for some reason, I end up going to for "OK, I'll go" shows. The exception was My Morning Jacket, but I wasn't impressed with the set. Every other show has been pretty forgettable.

My favorite Indy venue is easily The Vogue, but that's also where some of my personal favorites tend to end up -- The Hold Steady, The New Pornographers, They Might Be Giants, Drive-By Truckers, The Jayhawks, Old 97s. I've seen all of them do killer sets there, some of them multiple times.

Murat has been great for comedy, though. Nick Offerman was performing there the same night we saw spoon (different room, obviously).
