I've seen Bonamassa twice, both in small theater settings. You will definitely get your money's worth, Huggy. Guy is jaw-droppingly good.

  2. Best: Jeff Beck at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. Nice intimate venue.

Last: Tom Petty in Atlanta; runner-up for best

Worst: Aerosmith in Charlotte in 2004 or 2005

Best: R.E.M./Modest Mouse/The National in Atlanta last month.
Worst: Richard Marx 20 years ago. (don't ask)
    Last: See Best.
Next: The Whigs next month, if I can swing it.

Best: George Clinton and P-Funk. I've seen 'em seven times, don't know which particular show I'd call the best.
    Worst: Don't have one.
Last: P-Funk at Myrtle Beach House of Blues in September '06.
Next: As soon as P-Funk gets within driving distance (five hours or less).

Best: (Tie) Drive-by Truckers in Athens; Gov't Mule at the Ryman in Nashville; Joe Bonamassa in Tampa
Worst: Seether/Crossfade in Fort Wayne (the early moning breakfast after the show was more memorable)
    Last: Jason Isbell in Chattanooga
Next: Not sure, but likely Isbell or DBT somewhere in the United States

Personal high so far is 10 1/2 hours to see a show.

Set mine in May, when Little Bird and I drove 3 1/2 hours to Vegas for the Dropkick Murphys.

Best (and last): Wilco in Columbia, Mo., Sept. 19 last year.
Close second: Morphine in Columbia in 1997 (?). Sad that Sandman's dead.
Most intense: Hole about four months after Cobain's death.

Best - Kiss. I have a hard time imagining anyone putting on a better show. Even the Queen - not a Kiss fan - admitted it was the coolest concert she'd been to.

Worst - Adam Sandler. Among the worst $5 I ever spent.

Next - Not sure, but Poison and Alice Cooper are coming to town soon.

Last - It's been awhile. I honestly cannot remember.

My brother and I drove 9 hours to a Dead show in Austin for Fourth of July in '81 (one more Saturday night, of course). Epic show (20-minute Bird Song in 1st set was the highlight). but the sideshow in the parking lot before and after was what really made it memorable. Man, I miss being 25.

    Best - tie: Tragically Hip.

I had seen them a bunch of times over a 10 year span starting when they started playing the bar I was working at.

I was working concert security in the pit at a big outdoor show and they were amazing. I looked over the crowd and you could feel the energy. It really seemed to drive the band even harder.

I came away with a better understanding of how a rock star could be an egomaniac with that kind of throng of people worshipping at your feet.

Prince - The Lovesexy Tour in Minneapolis.

    Unbelieveable showman/musician.

worst: Guns and Roses opening for The Cult.

This was before Appetite for Destruction came out and they sucked big time. It was cool though seeing them on MTV a year later and recognizing Welcome to The Jungle.

    Last: Snoop Dogg

Great show in an intimate venue. Did all of the hits. Lots of crowd response.

Best: New York Dolls sometime in March of this year.
I didn't expect the band to be that good, but by golly they are a monster. Granted three of the five members that were a part of the classic '70s lineup are dead, but it doesn't matter. The band is tight, professional and totally fun.

Worst: So many...oh so many. The one that pops into my mind for the time being is the Misfits in the late 90s. Band walked out on the stage as a three-piece and just totally sucked it up. That was the last time I had anything to do with that band.

Last: New York Dolls show in June. Sublime.

    Next: Ah...who knows?
