The sovereign citizens are a scary group. Remember the father-son duo who killed two cops outside of Memphis during a routine traffic stop?

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned:

 

We have one here who robbed and murdered three people and set their homes on fire. In his court appearances he keeps insisting that since he has never signed a contract with the judge, the judge has no jurisdiction.

Just what the Sandy Hook tragedy doesn't need -- It's own "Truther" movement:

When will all these so-called "Truth" movements members learn they need to take their meds or read real publications and come to their senses...?

 

I'm sure they're well aware of this thread. If I were you people, I would make up fake names to use. Like Rust... well, I guess I still need to work on one.

 

I can't believe this thread started without me. Sniff. Not sure what I can add that I didn't say in my Sports Conspiracies piece.

 

Jon Ronson's done a lot of great writing on conspiracy theories. The Sandy Hook guy getting harassed reminds me of Ronson's story about the survivor of the London train bombings who started getting harassed by those who said that was all made up, with the chief instigator being a mentally ill former British spy.

 

I represented the State in tax protester cases in my first job out of law school. Those people scared the crap out of me.

 

Ronson's "Them" is essential reading on this topic.
