Contests: Why should I enter them?

Bomber, what can I say, obviously you're a better man than I am.

    SP,

You named this thread in a leading manner, asking WHY you should enter contests instead of IF you should enter them.

Do you want someone to convince you to continue entering contests, despite your lack of success and your damaged self-image? Or do you want someone to convince you to stop entering contests, due to your lack of success and your damaged self-image?

You can find support for whichever route you choose.

But the choice is still yours, no matter which side anybody else takes.

It sounds like you're leaning toward not entering, because failing to win pains you. Only you know how much it hurts, and only you can decide whether it's worthwhile.

What's the downside to not entering? You won't win. But at least you won't lose either. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, nothing lost. It's the safest approach.

    I say keep entering.

    Or not. ;)

I must be. I've won awards ... partly because I don't shit myself at the thought of entering my work.

    Hey hey hey.

Leave Eeyore alone. His sad donkey with the removable tail act provides a necessary counterbalance in the Hundred Acre Woods to the rest of that saccharin-coated bunch of jerks.

And if talking shit about me makes you feel better, by all means have at it. Some things might hurt my feelings, but nothing you've said has.

Then you won't mind if I continue ... I have no tolerance for people who whine and pout and snivel, especially when they ask advice of others and then disregard it. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings because, on this message board, you are an anonymous entity. But when you go to bed at night, those weak-minded thoughts in your head are very real.

I find it funny how you go to great lengths to refute the legitimate advice (I made two positive posts) then turn cute at the negative stuff. That says a lot about you and confirms my stance you're helpless because you want to be.
