Sounds like the plot of a Bruce Willis OR Leslie Neilsen movie! :)

That being said, "death by comet" is probably #2 on my Mass Extinction Power Rankings Potential, with #1 being "nuclear annihilation." I think climate change is #3, but I'm oddly (dumbly?) optimistic that we'll make enough changes, plus, I don't think it'll wipe EVERYONE out. It's freaky to think that there are just thousands of space objects out there that could collide with the Earth, and depending on their size and speed, we'll have a couple days to a couple weeks notice with current technology.

I'm quite fretful about this. He's old. Really old.

I'm an aviation and space geek to my core but this while Blue Origin thing is ridiculous; today's event ... from countdown to touchdown ... took less time than it took me to make my morning coffee.

I'm offended that they are considered "astronauts" and numbers 496-499 of humans in space. That's like calling me a Ferrari driver because I drove a 308 around a block once.

It's a PR stunt. An expensive, somewhat dangerous one. But it's still just a PR stunt.

And it's more like "you rode in a Ferrari once which makes you a Ferrari driver." It's all controlled from the ground. So it's more like a missile-powered bungee jump.
