They learn more from the so-called failures than they learn from a success, at least this early in the program.

I'm stunned that Elmo hasn't renamed the South Padre site Cape Trump yet.

Guess he's gonna wait till after stuff quits blowing up there.

I'm as big an Elmo hater as anyone on the board, but rockets blowing up at this stage of development is a normal part of testing the design and engineering. As to people dying, that's also part of the exploration and discovery process. It happened to the early sailors who headed over the horizon, to people who headed west in covered wagons, to test pilots, and to other astronauts. When you strap your ass to a booster full of highly explosive fuel and travel to an environment that will kill you in a minute or so if you are exposed to it, deaths *will* be a part of the process.

That's part of why we honor the brave people who ride those rockets. They are all well trained and intelligent people who understand the risks involved far better than we do and choose to go into space anyway.

Researchers for the first time observe humpback whales mating -- only they're both males.

    Sounds like an SJ.com gathering.

It appeared to me when I was a kid one of the ducks in our backyard pond was gay. Hard to be sure, but in the animal world sex is not consensual.
