Corriendo beisbol estring numero seis (because 46 pages on No. 5 was enough ...)

The longest two baseballs Cesar Izturis has ever hit wouldn't have gone as far as the one Howard just tatooed.

Still, for per-pound power, my vote for today goes to Fontenot, who despite being NOWHERE NEAR the 5-foot-8 he's listed at hit one about 415 feet. Fontenot was 9-for-13 against the Rockies, and he's hit safely in 17 of his 18 career games.

Also ... Zambrano has a 1.43 ERA in his past five starts (37 1/3). Not that it matters, since, you know, the Brewers will not lose another game the rest of the season.

Phils still looking for the 2nd out of the 7th inning. They've held the Reds to six so far. LOVE that bullpen. Thanks, Gillick.

FWIW, the one out was the pitcher sacrificing.

This is painfully true. The Phils need to dump that Lee Harvey Oswald-looking goof ASAP.

The last time the Phils lost a reliever they signed Jose Mesa.

    Screwed either way.

    Interesting subplot:

Chipper has a huge night - I think 3 hits, 3 RBI in 4 or 5 innings & Smoltz has thrown 4 scoreless.

It's just sad that Chipper is healthy enough to play like this but probably wouldn't have been in the lineup if Smoltz hadn't called him out.

So Rocket gives up four runs to the lowly Orioles. Money well spent by the Yankees, huh?

  9. Greg Dobbs has been raking all year long. Any Seattle folks around to tell me why this guy couldn't get off the pine?

Another Clemens note: His streak of consecutive games with at least one strikeout ends at 200.

Though Micah Bowie came pretty close.

Him and Schilling within 10 days of one another.

Hahahahahahahahhaa Clemens. Might be time to "amp up" your training.
