Corriendo beisbol estring numero seis (because 46 pages on No. 5 was enough ...)

  1. I'm aware, but what I meant was even if the Phils by some miracle take the next three, they'll still be 1 game back.

OK, either you have reading comprehension problems or you're just too arrogant to admit you're wrong. Either way, I'm done with this. You may now go ahead and have the last word. I'm sure you won't be able to resist.

But please don't do it with a full quote of the entire argument.

A little from column A, a little from column B. And you're bang on about the last word.

Simon C. reminds me of the kid in HS who always ran for student body president, was always convinced he was friends with the entire school and finished last four years running with a grand total of one vote each year.

You keep on deluding yourself, Simon C.!!!

I'll second that request (which I actually made earlier in the thread.)

How sad is the Nats' lineup: Their leadoff man, Langerhans, has a lower batting average than their starting pitcher, Chico.

You kids left me back on thread No. 5, but I've found you.

Since I don't have enough time to read through 14 pages of posts, I'll just assume that several people have said I'm a damned genius for suggesting that the Cubs might win the World Series. There's a long way to go, but this is a team with lots of youth. Say what you want, but you don't win seven straight via luck.

By the way, there's another NL Central team at .500 now. The Cubbies are 39-39.

This is what my roto site says about Gallardo, who's on my team, after today's game:

Relegate him to the pen? The kid seems like the real deal. I know part of his success if the unfamiliarity factor, and also know teams will start to catch up to him next time through the order. But let him build his confidence as a starter.

    Any opinions from Brewers fans?

Yes... I completely agree with the decision to put Yovani in the pen.

They need to limit Yovani's innings this year, considering he has never even pitched a season into September let alone October. All they need to do is look across the field for the Cubs on how not to work young, promising pitchers ... Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.

I like the idea of moving him into the bullpen for long relief, where they can monitor his innings and progress more closely and have another emergency starter should a situation arise like it did two weeks ago. Plus, they'll have a fresh Yovani for September and October.

Bush and Vargas have done nothing to lose their spots in the rotation, either. There's no need to rush Yovani.

Good ideas and insight, Gutter. Vargas is on my team, too. Who'd a-thunk I'd have 2 Brewer starters in my rotation?

I'd still spot start Gallardo as Vargas and/or Bush's hold on a rotation spot becomes more tenuous. Lately Vargas has been shakier than Bush.

If the Brewers are in a race come September, Gallardo should be back in the rotation.

Aubrey Huff hits for the cycle tonight. Helps the O's come back from down 5-0 to the Angels too.
