He was a perfectly good pitcher for Mets last season so those numbers don't surprise me. He would've been a solid back of the rotation guy for the Mets. Minaya did what other GMs tend to do, he chose the prospect over the player.

I'm not happy with the Brewers only winning one at Wrigley, but it's about all I hoped for. The goal for me as a fanboy was to not get swept. I can live with a 6 1/2 game lead.

I would too, especially with plenty of chances to beat up on the Astros, Pirates, Reds and Cardinals. I just can't see St. Louis getting back into it, even if they do get some arms back. That leaves the Cubs, and, well, lets just say history is on your side.

Yep, at least it's not down to 4.5. What bothers me is they were one out, or one pitch even, away from an 8.5-game lead.

    OK, Pants, I'm paying up.

Bannister pitched all of 38 innings last season, gave up 34 hits and 22 walks and had a 4.26 ERA.

Pelfrey, just turned 23, is not ready mentally. He still has to learn how to pitch, but in two years he'll be a far better pitcher than Bannister.

Maybe, but in two years will he be in a Mets uniform. I'd say the prospects are 50/50.

Most of us SJ baseball geeks love the game, but what is your preference, NL or AL?

I'm a Dodgers fan, so I've been partial to the NL style my whole life. I'm in an NL-only roto league, too. I like the AL, though I'd like to see the DH done away with. If I had my druthers, I'd choose to watch an NL game.

    You?

I was an NL guy before my team became an NL team.

How does Cecil, err, Prince hit all those homers with donuts on his bat?

Charlie Manuel continues to be the worst manager in baseball today.
