... and Damian Miller just drove in another run.

A year ago, that's a game they would have lost. Glad to see Meche settled down after giving up those two quick runs.

The Dodgers have amazing young cornerstones. With those young guys and the money in that franchise, I'll be shocked if they don't win a World Series in the next few years.

Three games in a row the M's have hit poorly. Sounds like Sexson will be out for at least two games with a contusion on his thumb.

In a pre-gamer McLaren informed the team that he will substitute more liberally than Grover. He'll be cautious about it; Sexson's owie will give him an easy start. Broussard, while no Youkilis at first, can hit a little and puts the bat on the ball more regularly than Sexson.

I thought good pitching made both teams look pretty ordinary at the plate. Felix Hernandez went eight for the M's. Brandon Morrow continues to have control problems.

Dotel was nails in pitching the final inning for the Royals.

I just caught 3 minutes of the replay of the Yankees-Twins game and when Posada was coming to bat in the first inning the announcers were discussing the All Star selections.
Whoever the main guy was said it was interesting Pudge was selected by the fans over Posada, considering Posada has better stats and plays for the Yankees.

Sutcliffe's response: It is nice to see the fans recognize Pudge for all the great years he has put up in the past. It is good to see them recognize him for his career.

Good one Rick. So, the fans shouldn't recognize that Pudge stopped being a big name 5 years ago? Or, instead vote based on season statistics, not what the player did 8 years ago?

God, I am glad I didn't know the Yankees were on and didn't tape the game so I didn't have to listen to Sutcliffe all night.

Angola, you make it sound like you're just learning this truth about the All-Star Game now. Happens every year about this time. The names might change, but this always happens.

Oh, and if the fans were to actually vote in the catcher who deserved it, it wouldn't be Pudge and it still wouldn't be Posada. Victor Martinez (.323, 14 homers, 63 RBI) trumps both.

Oh, I know about the fans and the All-Star voting, I was just annoyed that Pudge got voted in and even more annoyed with Rick Sutcliffe.
I figured there was a better catcher than Posada, I just didn't know who.

So, is Victor Martinez an All-Star? Because Posada is on the team.

Meche was actually a little erratic, but he got the outs when he needed them. I can't remember how times the Mariners had two on with one out and wouldn't score.

Martinez is an All-Star, too. Probably ought to be starting, though.
