    That's a strange name.
Did you cover the game it happened in?

No, I was still in high school when it happened...in fact, it happened the day before my 17th birthday.

    Interesting.
How the hell does Elias Sports Bureau come up with this stuff? The incident happened pretty late Eastern time and yet they have someone who can quickly find out the last time a Yankees pitcher struck out the side in his major league debut. I would love to peruse the search engines they have at Elias.

    Agreed, Angola.

Within 10 minutes after the game AP gamer says (according to Elias) first Yankees pitcher to strike out the side in ML debut since Stan Bahnsen on Sept. 9, 1966 against the Red Sox!

    Fucking insane!

Having not read the story and seeing your hint about being in high school, I thought for sure it would be Jack Chesboro or Carl Mays. :D

It turns out Spnited is the same age as my dad. Which means I'm not that far off Spnited age-wise, so bring the old jokes my way too, especially since I remember getting Stan Bahnsen baseball cards.

Hey, Bubs, you may want to alter the avatar pic. Cubs cut into the Brewers' lead tonight.

Fuck that. The only avatar-altering that will be done is to take that pix down at the end of the week. Might put some spaghetti western pix up or something.

Or you could use the Tits McGhee pic-sig I asked for after ... you know ... I won the bet.

And he finished 0 for 3 tonight. You would think that with as many garbage-time at-bats he got, he would have hit two home runs and six RBI tonight.

And Angola, I saw a blurb about Ramirez on a fantasy baseball Web site tonight, since this guy stumped you.

Thanks Oz, that was an interesting read.

On the Gordon joke, I agree. I figured with the Royals scoring so many runs, surely he would have had a part based on posts on this thread, but instead he was 0-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a HBP.

spnited and HB, what did you think of Jason Vargas? I thought it was a good impersonation of Jose Lima without the bombast, just the same results. That's an example, I believe, of what will spell the demise of the Mets ... pitching depth.

As for Elias, the answer is computers. They have everything on computers and can locate practically any stat you want in minutes.
