And the Rockies continue to take batting practice off of Mets' pitching. 7-4 Colorado in the fifth.

Time to put Guillermo Mota (2/3 IP, 6H, 6R, 2 HRs, turns a 6-4 game to 12-4) out of his misery (and ours)

Would you shoot him up if you wanted to kill him?

No, I would just shoot him (and I am in favor to strict gun control but will make an exception in this case!). He shot up enough in the past

If you got a life sentence, you would only have to serve a couple of years.

    Life sentence!
    Justifiable homicde.
No jury of my peers (Mets fans) would convict me.

I had a really good 4th of July. I saw the fireworks over the Potomac, I hung out with good friends and pretty girls, and I told some funny jokes. But no question, the funniest line I heard all the damn day today was when Bob Carpenter said at the end of the Cubs/Nats game, "and the Nationals have just shut out one of the best teams in the National League."

And that was it. He said that while there were a bunch of Cubs retreating from the dugout. The Chicago "underachieving" Cubs. I'd have fired Carpenter right away if I had a say, and I'd also send that dipshit Ray Knight with him.

Headbutt, what is Ray Knight doing? Is he working Nats games? I lost track of him.

And HB, did I tell you pitching would be the Mets' downfall? It is happening, believe me.

Casty, Knight is the pre and post game analyst in studio. He sits there next to Johnny Holliday and says "we" a lot and acts like a big cheerleader. It's usually Bob Carpenter and Don Sutton calling the games.

Interesting. When I knew Knight in the mid-80s, he was a good guy and good interview, but something happened to change him. When the Mets had their 20-year 1986 reunion last year, Knight didn't show and I was told he demanded money to attend. Hey, they paid everyone's flight in and a night in a hotel, but Knight wanted cash, too.
