So, what is it called when the team you root for scores more runs than the other team? That's a win, yes?

Because if that's the case, the Mets beat the Astros, 6-2, after being swept in Colorado.

You mean 4.5 games like they were 3 weeks ago as well?

Sorry, my bad ... the Cubs were 5.0 back 3 weeks ago, not 4.5 ... maybe by Aug. 1, they'll be 4.0 back.

The Cubs were nine games under .500 three weeks ago.

Haven't been around much because of the wedding, honeymoon and having to work holidays since I took three weeks for the honeymoon.

But, here's my offering from north of the border, but the Jays JP Ricciardi called out Burnett HUGE today on the Fan 590 in Toronto. Wow.

"When he takes the ball he's good, we've got no complaints every times he's been on the mound... we just need to find a way to keep him out there. I don't know if it's psychological, I don't know if it's just (that) he gets to a point where he feels something (that) he's so scarred from being hurt so many times that he just backs off, but I think he's going to have to get over that hump at some point and just maybe pitch through some pain or realize the difference between being hurt and really being hurt."

"As long as (McGowan, Marcum, Litsch) keep throwing well, we don't have to rely on A.J. to be that number two starter, we can start sliding him down to the third or fourth spot and we can start to build our rotation a little better," said Ricciardi.

And, he had this to say on Wednesday's post-game show:

Ricciardi said that he would not have signed Burnett back in December, 2005 if he had known how successful the young pitchers would be for the Blue Jays.
"If we had (Casey) Janssen, Litsch, Marcum, McGowan, I probably wouldn't (have signed Burnett), just because I would have that pitching lined up," said Ricciardi.

    Thoughts anyone?

*And please, forgive me if this was posted in here earlier*

Burnett might well be a punk, but Riccardi's an idiot.

You gave him the money, clown. Deal with it.

I couldn't agree more. I think JP is just shooting off his mouth to deflect criticism for signing bad goods back in December.

Guys, no one fears the Cubs.

The NL Central is the battle to see who sucks least. The Cubs have plenty of suck left in them.
