Thanks, d_bspnited. Look up a few posts.

Seriously, I saw the same thing, and it made me angry.

More and more, my beef with the WWL is not with the banality of its schtick, but the shittiness of its reporting. This is one example.

Another, influenced by my unabashed M'sfanboy status, is how good teams are ignored when they are not in major markets. Karl Ravich literally said "BY THE WAY, the Mariners are 1.5 games out of the wild card race" following highlights the other day. And two weeks ago, when Seattle was in second and Oakland in third (they briefly swapped before returning to that (current) order), ESPN spent two minutes of analysis on whether the A's could catch the Angels. Then they cut, without any preamble, to Mariners highlights.

Hey guys, if you're going to blather about the third place team's chances of catching the div. leader, how about AT LEAST mentioning that the second place team is in fact IN SECOND PLACE!!!

    inelegant, boring rant over

M's open second half with a huge series vs. Detroit.

Actually, I just started watching Sportscenter for the first time in probably a decade. I find that it's lost its punch, and it certainly didn't help that they were showing some ridiculous Who's Now competition. Is that even English? Wouldn't the answer be Nelson Oscar Wumbley?

Interesting stat I heard on SportsCenter today:
If ARod hits as many home runs from age 28 to the end of his career as Hank Aaron did, ARod will end up with 970+. Sorry, I can't remember the exact number, but that is insane.

If you calculate from the season after Aaron turned 28 (so 29-42), A-Rod would finish with 951 home runs.

Thank you for doing math I was too lazy to compile. It would still be insane for ARod to finish with 951 home runs.

Not sure if this is the right place for this or if it's been posted before, but it's a short clip of Jackie Robinson interviewing Satchel Paige from his old radio show.

More news on the Seattle front. Seattle Times has Ichiro re-signing with the Mariners for 5 years/$100 mil.

Now we'll see if the SportsCenter gang can pronounce his name right when they "break" the story. Oh, and even despite this, Bill Bavasi is still an idiot.

And Rosenthal just acted like this was his scoop on the All-Star broadcast.
