I agree on both counts, I am just curious if Marte ever pans out.

On the Cabrera thing, what is interesting is he signed at 4/$32 million if I am remembering right and the Red Sox didn't want to pay. In 2007, Cabrera is having another solid year and the Red Sox paid 4/$36 million for Lugo, who has been hovering around .190 for a while now.

Again, I can't fault that trade. They got an ace in Beckett and an every day third baseman in Lowell, who just played in the All-Star Game. Add in that Beckett's swoon last year helped the Red Sox sign him to a three-year extention at a discount price ($10 million annually) and that makes his up-and-down 2006 look a little better in hindsight.

Taking Thursday off for most of the NL after the All-Star break is bullshit. Get your asses on the field, I want to get this pennant race over with! I'm tired of waiting!

That's some fun-with-quote that has a kernel of truth.

Since the Brewers haven't been in any pennant race at all since '92, and haven't been the hunted team since '82, this first place shit is stressful. It's fun, but trying to hang on for an entire season, I'm telling you it's not always enjoyable. Last week sucked donkey balls for example.

I don't think that can be true - The Yanks were over .500 in June, no?

Should the door have read, "Because Marte will probably be a AAAA player and the Braves had several other young infield prospects in the system including Yunel Escobar and Elvis Andrus?"

No, not seriously, although it wouldn't shock me to see Rickey beg into games at some point.

It's an interesting hire to say the least.

On June 1, the Red Sox led the ALeast by 10 games over the Orioles, while the Yankees were in fourth place 13.5 games back. Only July 1, the Red led the East by 10.5 games over the Blue Jays; Yankees were 11 games back.

So while the Yankees did make up 2.5 games, the Red Sox actually extended their lead in the East by a half-game.

This is exactly how I feel, too.

Just remember, Baby Brew Crew ... the pain train is coming.

So, rumor has it the Cubs are calling up 24-year-old catcher Geovany Soto, who is hitting .341 with 12 homers, 55 RBIs, and has an ops of .996 (obp of .412, slugging .584) for AAA Iowa. They're also trying to trade Izturis and bring up Ronny Cedeno, who is hitting .383 with 10 homers and a 1.068 ops (.457 obs and slugging .611).

    That would give them...

    Zambrano
    Soriano
    Fontenot
    Theriot
    Soto
    Cedeno ...

    As well as ..
    Carlos Marmol
    Mark DeRosa
    Will Ohman

    And though he's hurt ...
    Henry Blanco

That can only mean one thing, my friends ... The Cubs are going to show the Brewers their O-Face.
