I wouldn't say its "a great" paper." Let's just say its a good gig and let it go at that. OK?

Does anybody know when they're looking to fill this position?

Boots, seriously, did your last comment have any point?

There's no reason at all to disparage a paper, and that's exactly what saying "I wouldn't say its 'a great' paper. Let's just say its a good gig and let it go at that" does.

I'm not in the great paper mentality. Some paper have better resources than others but in the end, they are all the same for the most part. I'm not impressed with names.
That being said, I stand by my statement that its a great gig and a great opportunity. Nothing has changed that.

Here's hoping the hire for this position is less contentious than it was last time.

The board vets know what I'm talking about. The last hire took a long time to pull the trigger on, and if I'm remembering right, there were some ruffled feathers when it was done. Nothing against the guy they hired, who I've never met but have heard nothing but good things about.

Probably not immediately. With the Nats well out of contention, I think the big push is to get the right person in place for next year with the stadium opening and all the hoopla that would accompany that. Not saying they'll wait until next year to make the move, but I think they'll take their time in getting the right person.

It took a while for the big wigs to OK this hire, so they don't want to whiff. There are some good people on staff there ... Jimmy Mac, Himmelsbach, Rice, etc. And I know this paper wants more than just someone to file gamers from the new stadium. Great opportunity to do enterprise work and deeper stuff, as Todd said in his post. You're probably not going to beat the Post on a lot of the little things, but there's a great opportunity to do bigger picture work.

But in all seriousness, the Lynchburg crew will continue to come up and steal spots at the final table at the Super Bowl poker game. You can count on that. :D

I didn't think it was THAT long of a wait. You know how those things go.

Clearly, compared to other posters, I'm not as informed about this position, The Free Lance-Star's hiring practices or the paper itself ...

But sources tell me it would not be wise to drag your feet sending stuff in.

I'd trust your sources. Haha. I was just trying to give a rough guesstimate on the situation. I've heard plenty of resumes are piling up at the FLS as we speak.
