That's a pretty sensationalized version of events the NYT is peddling for ESPN moving up his departure date by a week.

Dominicans are not as dumb as baseball.

I'm no Cowherd fan in any way. He's a complete hack. But what he said was taken totally out of context, people who are predisposed to be offended got offended, and ESPN found a convenient excuse to cut ties.

If you make north of $500K from the Mouse, I'd be very nervous.

Substitute "NBA" for "baseball" and "the inner city" for "Dominican Republic."

Colin is almost a perfect name for him, since he's an asshole

Sorry, no. You can't really make an argument that "The game is so simple, even Dominicans understand it!" was taken out of context. He's a race-baiting dipshit. Unfortunately for him, he went a little too obvious with it once he no longer had a network with any reason to defend him.

He was already gone. They could have gotten rid of him at anytime. Plus, ESPN tried to keep him before he signed with Fox. It wasn't a cost cutting move.

Rightfully lost in the shuffle is the banality of the premise Cowherd was trying to make in the first place--typical of his let's make a strong argument on some topic approach, even if there are no facts to back it. No Joe fan could draw up a halfback toss, a slant, a bomb, a flea flicker (most would of course draw up a bomb or a flea flicker), and that same Joe Fan knows how to perfectly call the sacrifice, double steal and shift the outfield, pitch outs and pitch selection?

    Ugh. Good riddance.

Noted dummies Lenny Dykstra, Pete Rose, Johnny Damon, John Kruk, Harold Reynolds, Joe Morgan, and Jose Canseco wonder when they became Dominican.
