    Except healthcare reform was necessary. Too many people were either without insurance or getting screwed over by the insurance companies because they either got sick or had a pre-existing condition.

    I won't disagree the system was messed up, but even the most casual observer should've been less than thrilled at the prospect of government getting involved to the degree they did. Their track record in such matters, especially when they're promising to keep costs down, is not very good. The way it was pushed into law when public support was lukewarm and there were obvious concerns about it didn't engender confidence, either.
