Crisis in the Ukraine

That's a report referring to events from last August. They began to seek Congressional approval for a military strike in September. That strike never happened because Syria backed down.

 

Problem is, the "status quo" in Ukraine at the moment is a government viewed as illegitimate by many ethnic Russians because they ignored the Constitution and overthrew their constitutionally elected president.

Putting that on the ballot --- regardless of how badly it would be voted down --- would be a formal recognition of that government. Ain't gonna happen.
