A newsroom is such a maddening think tank at times that you have no recourse but to drop "motherfucking cocksucker" or "asshole" or "goddamn mother fucker" or "jesus fucking christ" or any other string of expletives. And you know what? I would hope this is the case. I don't want to work in a newsroom where unleashing a torrent of frustration, just because it's necessary and stress-relieving, is frowned upon. Fuck that. This profession ain't always pretty, and neither are we, the think-tankers, editors, Quarkmasters and deliverers of news. Just got in for a 21-hour day, so bet your bottom fucking dollar I'll be slangsinging more than just a few nasty notes. Bloody fucking bollocks!

Oh, and have a lovely 3 Scratches of Your Crotch Day.

I just remembered one day when I dropped some F-bombs and other choice words just as our small-town husband-and-wife publisher team walked back in from lunch.

It was a week before we invaded Iraq, and I was trying to explain to two co-workers that a) there were no clear links between Iraq and 9-11; b) Saddam Hussein wasn't planning to bomb the secretary's home in a small Midwestern farming town; c) the person who replaced Hussein would likely be just as bad, accomplishing nothing and d) It doesn't make me unpatriotic for opposing war and e) lots of innocent people would be killed for no benefit.

Good to see that Moddy hasn't locked Random Thoughts, A Threadjacked Thread yet.

Hopefully this thread can get back on track, because I find it to be a very amusing topic.

Moddy, don't you have any good cussing stories?

I can and will curse with the best of them. And here's my philosophy on cursing in the newsroom: Don't. There's no need for it. If there is, don't curse at someone. Cursing to them is one thing, at them is another altogether. I don't tolerate that well.
