Another thing that Omaha offers which would be difficult for another city to match is the support. Not every session is sold out, but a majority of seats are filled, even for the Tuesday afternoon game. These seats aren't filled by fans of the teams there, they are mostly from people living in Omaha. I don't see another city being able to come close to that kind of support, especially with two games a day for a week and a half. And that's not even talking about the carnival atmosphere around the stadium for the full run of the CWS.

You can go across the Mississippi River and gamble in Council Bluffs, right?
That's what I'd do in my spare time there.
I'd golf if possible .. maybe even just 9 holes here or there, go to casinos, chase a cool feature story and notebook nuggets, and look for good eats at cool restaurants.
I've never been out to cover the CWS.
My choice to win it all, by the way, is Mississippi State.

Minneapolis has been very serious about coveting the CWS.

My choice to win is Arizona State. Great hitting, solid pitching, excellent use of the final year of the no-sit transfer rule to fill some holes.

I've been to so many CWS games at the 'Blatt that it wouldn't be the same without it, but I guess money talks sometimes.
They do have to leave it in Omaha, though. Omaha is the CWS.

By the way, here's hoping The Rules of Golf and Jesus Muscatel, among others, have a good time in the Big O this week.
Although I will note that The Rules is missing some primo US Open coverage on DirecTV - including a couple of extra channels that follow featured groups (right now they're following Tiger) and extra close-up coverage of other top players.
Maybe you can sneak into a sports bar and catch some action in between blogging and Ron Polk NCAA rants...

I like the Sun Devils, but they'd better win every game in bracket play. I don't think their pitching can survive the losers bracket.

I'm a Cal State Fullerton alum so no surprise, I'll take the Titans. If they should fall and the 'Eaters are still in it, I'm staying loyal to the Big West Conference and Dave Serrano (UCI coach) has CSF ties.
