Dane Cook, you're not funny

On a side note, Cosby is on Letterman tonight.

Caught the tail-end of his stand-up. Still funny as hell.

I know this is an old topic, but I didn't want to D-B.

Just finished watching the Tourgasm DVD because I'd never seen it (Went to one of the shows, but never got around to the HBO series).

I have to painfully disagree with everyone here that said Dane Cook isn't funny, but I'd like to do so with an asterisk if I might.

I saw Dane Cook three times while he was just gaining national popularity and each time he had me on the floor laughing. His material, to me at that point, was just brilliant and unlike anything I'd heard. Also, as others have said, he was very accessible. I met with him after the show, got a picture taken and it's still one of the top celebrity meeting moments I've had.

    That was back in 2005.

Now, I look back on his first two CDs and I still find them to be gold. I think they were solid, front to back, and there were quite a few bits I still laugh my butt off to. (I.E. "I'll f*cking kill you!" and "and then a tire....")

That being said, because I enjoyed him, I watched the Rough Around the Edges special and bought Vicious Circle. Neither did it for me. I was actually bored with RAE and only sporadically laughed at Circle (mainly the "Lost" and "Oprah" bits were things I enjoyed).

I feel like his stand-up has kind of taken a hit lately and it's mainly because he's focused on movies. I loved Waiting, I liked Good Luck Chuck, I liked Employee of the Month and I'm really looking forward to seeing My Best Friend's Girl.

I just don't know where all this anti-Dane Cook stuff has come from all of a sudden and hope that things get better for him. For my money, he's one of the top comics I've seen live and I'd gladly fork over $35 to do it again. And really, isn't that the sign of a good comic? Someone you can see, laugh, and want to see again?

Like I said, I found Cook's HBO special, the Boston concert, to be quite funny. That's the only time, however, I've found him funny. His movie turns, I think, have been painful.

One guy who Clubber mentioned a couple of pages ago -- Gabriel Iglesias. I caught his act on Comedy Central a week or two ago, and I am a fan. He is piss-yourself hilarious.

I don't think he's that bad. His thing about cheating had me rolling. I was laughing so hard I nearly cried. He's so right about how the cheating man acts too. Around the time I saw it, I was being cheated on and being viciously accused of being the cheater. I think the humor I found in it is what kind of helped me to perk up a little during a really bad time for me, so I appreciate him for it.

Employee of the Month is one of the worst movies ever made.

I'd say it was better than every Disaster Movie type parody film, better than Howard the Duck, better than anything Jennifer Lopez has done. Therefore, how can it be one of the worst ever?

Every movie he's been in has been absolutely terrible. He can't act and the new movie he has coming out looks awful.

Waiting is easily one of the funniest comedies from open to close in the last five or so years and anyone who doesn't agree is probably too mature (AKA uptight) to appreciate the idiotic banter.

Is it even in the top 20 of the last 5 years? I mean, honestly?

Give me 20 comedies better, pound for pound, from start to finish.

I'll spot you 40-year old virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad, Juno. If you can come up with 16 more I applaud you.

We've just been given a homework assignment. By schiesieaisneznc. To name movies better than a Dane Cook movie. You just can't make this stuff up, kids.

I saw Dane Cook on the insomniac tour when I lived in Vegas and everyone thought he was so funny. I didn't get it, I laughed maybe once. But when Greg Giraldo was on the same stage that night, he had me rollin.
