Or Cutler may have been molded into being worth a shit by Arians. It may not be possible, but if anyone could, it's him. I've heard Arians referred to as "The Quarterback Whisperer", which is pretty spot-on.

They were within a point of Denver in the third quarter at Mile High with freaking Drew Stanton at QB, before Stanton and Calais Campbell went out with injuries and things got sideways on them. I think another meeting on a neutral field (Glendale), with Palmer back and everyone healthy would be very interesting.

Wouldn't Glendale be the Cardinals home field? I know that's not how they distribute tickets, but I'd bet the vast majority of fans would be from Phoenix. In fact, I think it'd be the first Super Bowl played on one of the two teams' home field.

It would. The closest otherwise was when the 49ers played the Dolphins at Stanford (1984 season, 1985 Super Bowl) and when the Rams played the Steelers in Pasadena (1979-1980).

The Marcus Lattimore knee rebuild is apparently over. He practiced for the 49ers on Wednesday and Thursday (his first practices of the season), skipped practice Friday and didn't go to the game Sunday, and now there are reports that he is retiring. Agent says no decision made yet, but the writing is on the wall.

And people are shocked when very good college running backs inadvertently commit eligibility-ending infractions ...

    I don't get the headline.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. I don't blame the Niners for taking a chance on the guy.

I give Lattimore credit for being able to recognize that it's just not going to happen.

Sad, but he'll be OK. He's so beloved and understandably so, that I would not be the least bit surprised to see him in coaching very soon.

That sucks, had a chance to cover him back when he was toting the ball for Byrnes and just as nice and humble a kid as you'd want to deal with going through the sort of craziness he was. Those I know that covered the Gamecocks said he was the same in college.

Was really hoping it would work out for him. He was so talented.

Trestman was hired *entirely* for his reputation for working with QBs. Even that exact phrase, "Quaterback Whisperer," was thrown around quite a bit. Dude got an MVP season out of Rich Gannon.
