That is a very odd combination of stats.

Almost as if you went through and picked out the ones that would lead you to the conclusion you'd already made, rather than going for a comprehensive overview of how well he's played.

Greg Roman's end of game play calling has cost The 49ers one Super Bowl, getting into a second and now winning an important regular season game.

I figured after the first Super Bowl that they would have rock solid plan for end of
game red zone plays but based on ending to Seattle game clearly they did not and now it happens again. Roman is a man with no plan.

Marshall and Jeffery have both been hurt this year. Jeffery missed three games and Marshall has said he should have sat out about that long.

I've wanted to give Kaepernick the benefit of the doubt since he came into the league.

Now with nearly two years of NFL starts on video, perhaps the defensive coordinators have found their best counterpunch and it's really up to Kaepernick and the coaches to find a new way to be effective.

Also an odd theory... has the new stadium/location hurt the 49ers? It's one thing to move into a new stadium across the street from the old one like most teams. This new place is, what, an hour from Candlestick? Perhaps for some of the 49ers, this does mess with your system and daily routine, going to a new facility every day.

If they boot Harbaugh, as another poster mentioned, the complex will be happy for an off-season but, damn, it's hard to recapture high-end coaching.

Marshall is still feeling it. He's never been fast, but he's been slow as all hell.

I don't care enough to go farther. He's just not a great player.

    I don't think it's a runaway.

Anyway, with a quick aside to note the difficulty of separating out individual skill from other cogs on an offense (such as QB and OL play):
    Cardinals have to be considered.
    As do Texans.
    And Cowboys.
The Martavis breakout means the Steelers need to be in the conversation, since their WR1 is otherworldly and their RB is damn strong.
Does the Sanu breakout get the Bengals in the conversation?
Tate seems damn good, and Calvin Johnson is such a freak it almost doesn't matter who Detroit puts at RB, they need to be mentioned.

    OK.

So is there room in your world for something between "great" and "bad"?

He's guaranteed $54 million. That's money paid to be great.

Can you take that $54 million elsewhere and get a real great QB?

Is overthecap.com wrong? It has total guarantee as $38m.

Toss Stafford to the wind and let Cutler play with the Lions' receivers.
