I have no general issue with Julie DiCaro, but she’s the interim editor. Not the permanent editor. Perhaps you should wait until you have the job for good to mark your territory.

Jezebel editor-in-chief Laura Bassett resigned from her post on Friday, becoming the seventh EIC in a portfolio of ten sites to quit G/O over the last eight months—the second EIC in as many weeks.

    That's a pretty good graphic.

    Terrific piece of writing. Harrowing.

Scary, and scarier still to think there are untold thousands of people facing the same non-answers.

I pretty much never agree with whatever argument Scocca makes in his writing and grew tired of the entire Gawker-verse viewpoint and attitude long ago. But even when I have an entirely different opinion on an issue I’ve always admired his writing, and I know writers who have been edited by him have nothing but praise for his skills on that end.

And like everything else he does this is incredibly written and I’m just sorry he ever had to write it.

My sister has been in this situation for 4 1/2 years now. Hers is an esophagus problem. She's had multiple procedures, from biopsies to operations. One laparoscopic surgeon nicked her lung inadvertently and the infection had her in the hospital for five months. Things haven't gotten better. The latest specialist told her to get used to the idea of eating only liquid foods for the rest of her days. She tries to stay positive and it boggles my mind. I'd have firebombed the hospital(s) by now.

Report: G/O Media looking to sell the Gawker sites either individually or together.

I wonder which, if any, of the sites make money. Some of the sites have been around for 15-20 years and seem like top in their focus.

Plenty of them are good in their particular niches, but years of gutting have hurt their profile overall. Like I still get the Kotaku and AV Club newsletters, but it is mostly just to get a feel for what's happening in those fields. It's rare that I read something on there and go, "Wow that was some outstanding writing."
