This is a big part of sorting it out: Was there a girl he met at Stanford that he held hands with? And if so, who was it?

  2. And if that comes out, I'd be (much) more inclined to believe Te'o was a victim.

Kevin Garnett says that Te'o's girlfriend tastes like unicorn.

    That is tremendous.

Good question. Someone said that came from the dad. I thought Manti did say that it was an "Internet-only relationship" at some point, implying he never actually met her.

So Notre Dame was able to determine in less than 4 weeks that Manti Te'o was the victim of a hoax but can't determine after more than 2 years of investigations that Katie Seeburg was the victim of a sexual assault?

Not to sound condescending (because the amount of name-calling and back-and forth bickering that occurs on this board is far too high), but who is more gullible, you or him? O.J. Simpson didn't seem like a cold-blooded murderer, I'm guessing.

This is just a guess, but I think he did it for notoriety. Maybe to bolster his draft stock?

We can put a man on the moon, but we can't (insert special thing that I want to see happen here) . . .

Like I said, it's a thin reed. I'd rank it 1,000th out of 1,000 reasons I tend to believe him.

Again: What notoriety? Nobody knew who he was when he entered this "relationship." He was a talented player on a fringe top 25 team. And the relationship began years before the "death" occurred. At some point, he believed she was real. I'm convinced of that.

And how would this help his draft stock?

I just can't believe that he was this conniving and savvy - "and almost got away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids at Deadspin!"

This hoax would have had a lot more depth if Te'o's girlfriend had died in a fork-lift accident.

Or shot by a member of the crips using an assault rifle.

To paraphrase the great Chris Rock: "If you've been dating a man for four months and you haven't met any of his friends, you are NOT his girlfriend
