So that's all Cris Carter has to do, huh?

All they have to do is play in the tournament? That's "ribbons for everybody!" taken too far. (And those kids need to get off my lawn, too!)

Yep ... it was on the internets, so it must be true. And if any parent calls in and wonders why it wasn't worth more than a cutline, next round's on me!

    Just Imagine ...

Being a part of History! Each player and coach will be immortalized by being inducted into the prestigious American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame where they will be enshrined. As a part of the Cooperstown Dreams Park experience, your team members will be awarded the coveted American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame ring - like the champions before them - and granted membership into this distinguished baseball club. All Cooperstown Dreams Park participants share this great honor.

So it's a "prestigious" award that anyone can get?

And I love how cleverly the press releases are worded, mentioning Cooperstown and Hall of Fame, but not the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, where the likes of Ruth, Mays and Aaron can be found.

Not a phone call, but a Facebook friend of mine was laughing about her son's height/weight on the program is inaccurate. He's listed at 3 inches taller than his height and 15 pounds heavier. Another parent commented how dishonest the practice is and the mom needs to start a crusade to bring honesty back to rosters.

  9. This is something I can get behind. We need national roster reform.

I covered a guy in high school who eventually went to the NFL (Slappy remembers him, too). He was 6-2 in high school, shrunk to 6-1 in college and shrunk again to 6-0 in the NFL. Maybe he got hit so many times that his head got pounded into the rest of his body...

I covered a mid-major basketball team that listed a guy at 6-foot-8 his entire four-year stay there. After he graduated, he went to play in the 6-4 and under league.

  12. Yeah, high school coaches can be... generous when it comes to height/weight.
