What was his complaint about the last name?

We're in the same situation in my house, both with our last name and my wife's name: A-I-M-E-E. She's annoyed that after we've married she has to spell out both her first and last names now.

The previous (as of last week) women's basketball coach at the juco has the first name Diana. Pronounced Deeanna. So of course, no one ever said it right. Even the juco's PA guy never got it right and I used to remind him every so often.

There was another girl in high school who went by Joce, short for Jocelyn. She pronounced it "Josie." She was introduced at one road game as "Joyce."

Well, I think it's what the name implied, from his perspective. "Is English this writer's first language," or some such. Typical gutless VM caller, never leaves a callback number.

Did he give it to you wrong or give you a different spelling from facebook? The facebook spelling may be a variation. I have seen that before.

Last name actually. So there should be no variation there.

Where do you live where this a reliable, or even possible option?

Woman I used to work with had a kid and named her "Maesyn."

    Calling the school?

Anywhere. I would start with the AD, but if you have any kind of relationship with the school, they're going to tell you the spelling of a kids' name.

Why would you question the reliability of the school.

    Methinks SoCal was being sarcastic.
