    Dear anonymous commenter,

Please forgive me for not mentioning the 11 state titles Podunk Creek won in an article about MLK Podunk. Just because the two schools consolidated, does not mean the records travel. I am using MLK Podunk's records because they were known as MLK Podunk before consolidation.

    Sincerely,
    YG11

Speaking of anonymous comments... This might shock everyone on this thread, but when you allow people to comment anonymously on police reports, they don't always behave appropriately.

We've had an anonymous commenter this week with a little extra dumb. We combine our paper with our co-owned sister 20 miles over on the weekend, so weekend stories appear on both web sites (or they're supposed to, anyway).

So our No. 1 reporter wrote a story on a murder/arson case for the Friday edition, which is just us. That story focused mostly on the testimony of the defendant's witnesses. The story he wrote for the Saturday/Weekend combined edition focused on the county's witnesses.

Commenter posts on the Friday story: "If you want to read a much more informative non bias artilce about this check the (sister paper's) web page."

Someone points out in the next comment that the same writer wrote both stories.

His reply: "Dont know who wrote it but its much more detailed and informative than this one."

That's one of the dumbest ideas to come along since .... giving away your content for free on the internet.

Living here in the murder capital of the western world, it's hardly surprising that the first five stories on the late local news the other night involved violent crimes. Each story was posted on the station's website with a place to comment.

I went down the list and commented on each: "See, things like this wouldn't be happening if they were at home watching the Olympics."

    Or better yet: "Yup!" *click*

OK, so I have no soul, but it might work.

Don't get me started on that. I can't stand anonymous comments.

Is this supposed to be sarcastic and/or funny?

Yup. I love it...nothing but the best background noise to sift through! :)

Yeah, because the station has spent MONTHS hyping itself as "home of the summer Olympics" and even shelled out to send Little Miss Hottie anchor chick to London to do puff pieces on an athlete's grandparents.

Got this email forwarded to me from the publisher this afternoon.

Can you please tell someone in the sports department that there is an American legion ALL STAR GAME on Monday August 6th.

I see a tiny mention of the boys that made the ALL STAR TEAM in today's paper and all the sports coverage is about the state tournament.

That's great but there are a lot of ALL STAR players who weren't on a conference winning team and these players deserve some kind of press for being the best players in the league, albeit they weren't on the best teams in the league for which they have no control over… see my point?.

PS my son is one of the All Stars :)

It's difficult for me to see your point when you can't even construct a coherent sentence. And, yes, we are dedicating more space to a state tournament that is being played right now than to an exhibition game that is coming up Monday. Sorry about that (I'm not really sorry). Today's paper had the time and place for Monday's All-Star Game, along with rosters for both teams. I'm sorry if that doesn't give enough credit to all of these kids who worked so hard (again, I really couldn't be less sorry).

But kudos to you for going straight to the publisher. You get a boatload of whiner points for that move.
